What happens when you visit
The website is hosted by Netlify. To deliver each page, Netlify’s servers receive the technical details that come with every web request, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. Netlify handles that information under its own privacy statement ↗.
Where a page includes content from another service, such as a YouTube video, that service receives the same kind of technical details when the content loads and may use cookies, under its own privacy policy. There are no advertising trackers on this website.
Visitor analytics
This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it: which pages are visited, how far people scroll, which sections they open, which links and share buttons they use, and general details such as device type, browser and approximate location. This helps me improve the site.
Google Analytics runs only if you choose “Allow analytics” in the message shown on your first visit. It then sets cookies in your browser and sends this information to Google, which processes it under Google’s privacy policy ↗. Google states that Analytics uses IP addresses to estimate location and then discards them. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, and I do not use Analytics to identify you.
If you choose “No thanks”, analytics stays off. Your choice is remembered in your browser for 180 days, and you can change it at any time with the “Analytics preferences” button at the bottom of every page.
Professional inquiry form
The “Send a professional inquiry” button opens a Google Form inside this page. Nothing is loaded from Google until you press that button. Once the form opens, Google receives the usual technical request details and may use cookies, under Google’s privacy policy. You can also open the same form in a new tab.
The form asks for your name, work email, organisation or brand, the type of inquiry, a description of the opportunity, and optionally the timing, budget and a website or event link. When you submit it, your answers are stored in my Google account. Please share only what is relevant, and avoid sending sensitive personal information.
Email, scheduling and links to other sites
“Send me a personal message” opens your own email app, and I receive whatever you choose to send. “Schedule a time to talk” opens Google Calendar’s booking page in a new tab, where the details you enter are shared with me and handled under Google’s privacy policy.
Links to Substack, YouTube and LinkedIn open those services in a new tab. They apply their own privacy policies, including if you subscribe to my Substack.
The share buttons open LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Facebook, X or your email app with this page’s address already filled in. Nothing is posted or sent unless you finish it there. “Copy link” only copies the address to your clipboard.
How I use your information
I use what you send me to reply, discuss possible partnerships or speaking engagements, arrange conversations and manage any work that follows. Sending an inquiry does not sign you up to a newsletter. Where the law requires a legal basis, this processing supports my legitimate interest in responding to correspondence, steps you ask for before a contract, or legal obligations that apply to an engagement.
Keeping and sharing information
I keep correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to handle the inquiry, manage an ongoing relationship, or meet legal and record-keeping obligations. That depends on things like whether the conversation is still active and whether an agreement or dispute requires records. The services named above keep information according to their own practices.
I do not sell your information or use it for targeted advertising. I share it only where needed with the services named above, or where the law requires it.
Where information is processed, and your choices
The services named above may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Depending on the law that applies to you, you may be able to ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction or a copy, or object to certain uses. Where processing relies on your consent, you can withdraw it. Email me at the address above; I may need to confirm your identity first. You may also be able to complain to your local data protection authority. You can unsubscribe from Substack emails through Substack.
Updates
I will update this notice when the website’s data practices change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
